A Blueming Spring
I’m normally a pink person (can you tell?), and will choose almost anything in the pink colorway nine times out of 10. This spring, however, I have become very intrigued by the color blue. Blue is a beautiful spring color in its own right, but it is generally a more mature and less girly color even with a cute print. Nothing in blue has really caught my eye or screamed kawaii to me until this year, specifically from LIZ LISA’s Girl in Bloom collection.
Using the blue items I handpicked from LIZ LISA’s spring collection this year and fashion items from previous collections, I put together a few blue outfits featuring this spring’s hot fashion trends that you can easily recreate.
1. Blue Floral Midi
Flowers are obviously the pattern for spring, and LIZ LISA’s big flower jumpskirt not only has that in abundance but it also sports another hot trend this season—the midi-length skirt. The blue flowers stand out well against the white background, and the midi style gives the skirt a feminine feel. Personally, the midi length gives me peace of mind because I don’t have to worry about the wind blowing up my skirt!
The advantage of a jumpskirt is its flexibility. You can pair it with a long-sleeved top on chillier days, and you can go without one when the warmer weather arrives. The day I wore this outfit was actually cool in the morning and hot in the afternoon, so I chose LIZ LISA ribbon lace top from the 2018 spring collection, which is lightweight but still keeps me warm, and the white ribbon sandals with plastic heels also from 2018 to accommodate the warmer temperatures in the middle of the day.
The ribbon and lace details of the top add the right touch of kawaii to this outfit. The same goes for the 2018 white lace-up purse. I also took this opportunity to showcase the white flower earrings I bought from aimelbie, an online Korean accessory store. (See picture below.) Their beautiful designs complement kawaii clothing well, so definitely check them out if you like what you see here!
2. Blue Lace and Lavender
Lavender continues to be a popular color this year. It’s my second favorite color after pink, and it pairs extremely well with so many different colors, including blue. LIZ LISA’s spring collection last year produced many lavender items to choose from, and one that works particularly well with blue is the 2018 bouquet skirt. It has a scattered floral pattern featuring subtle hints of blue, making it the perfect complement to the LIZ LISA ribbon watermark sweater that caught my eye.
The soft robin egg blue color of the ribbon watermark sweater was what immediately drew my attention. The lace and ribbon details around the crisscross neckline made this too cute to pass up! The fit of the sweater is roomy and comfortable, and the fabric keeps you warm in the cooler temperatures of spring. It’s a must-have in any kawaii girl’s wardrobe!
I wore this sweater and skirt with LIZ LISA’s pink cork-heeled sandals, also from the 2018 spring collection, as a work outfit. You can easily swap the shoes with sneakers or more casual sandals for a weekend look.
3. Blue and tulle
Tulle is probably my favorite fabric, and lucky for me, it’s everywhere this spring! One tulle item in particular has caught my attention, and that’s LIZ LISA’s shirring tulle overlaid dress. It’s the epitome of tulle and kawaii overload. Tulle is everywhere on this dress: the straps at the top are bordered with tulle, the sleeves are lined with another layer of tulle, and tulle overlays the skirt portion of the dress. The overall impression is very delicate and fairy-like.
That’s the theme I had in mind for this outfit. I paired this dress with the 2017 margerite basket bag, also LIZ LISA, because the splash of yellow from the margerites livens up and adds even more color to the outfit. To complete the look, I decorated my braid with this year’s pearl ribbon hair pins in white to make this outfit even more fairy-like.
This dress is easy to dress up or down. It can even be worn to formal occasions. It all comes down to the accessories. For my casual date in a park, I paired this dress with LIZ LISA’s big ribbon sandals from the 2018 summer collection. Swap the sandals for pumps, and you are ready for a wedding!
I hope this gives you some ideas for blue spring outfits. Feel free to share them with me here in the comments or on Instagram!
